Ten years ago today, the lives of women everywhere were changed forever.
And the lives of men, really, considering their girlfriends likely made them sit through The Notebook on multiple occasions.
Indeed, this Rachel McAdams-Ryan Gosling tearjerker opened in theaters on June 25, 2004, quickly becoming the go-to romantic movie for pretty much every human being with a vagina.
In honor of the occasion, we’re excited to present a very cool video: it’s the original audition of McAdams, who portrayed Allie to Gosling’s Noah in the story, which was based on a Nicholas Sparks novel.
"I read the script the night before and bawled my eyes out," McAdams says. "It was the best audition experience I’ve ever had."
Watch her win the role now:
EDITOR’S NOTE: We apologize that you cannot see Ryan Gosling shirtless in this video. You can only hear his voice.
