On Dance Moms Season 6 Episode 16, it was hip hop week, but not everyone was invited by Abby, who gave solos to Brynn and JoJo.
Watch Dance Moms Season 6 Episode 16 OnlinePicking up where last week left off, Dance Moms Season 6 Episode 16 saw Mackenzie Ziegler decide she was done being pigeonholed.
That’s right. If you watch Dance Moms online, you know one of the recurring themes of the season is was Maddie Ziegler’s departure.
Or rumors thereof, or confirmation thereof, or fallout from it.
Her sister is still around, though, and was the focal point of Tuesday’s installment. If it’s not Maddie drama, it’s Mackenzie drama!
Anyway, she let her voice be heard Tuesday night, as the 12-year-old informed Abby Lee Miller that she’s unimpressed with her solo.
JoJo Siwa and Brynn Rumfallo got him hip-hop numbers, Mackenzie was less than enthralled with getting another gymnastics routine.
“I do gymnastics every single time,” Mackenzie lamented, to which Abby said, predictably, that you know, she doesn’t have to compete at all.
Melissa Gisoni, Mackenzie’s mom, tried to talk this through with Abby, who did what every respectable, upstanding leader would do:
Sneak out of the back door of the studio and nearly plow over the moms in the process in an attempt to avoid confrontation at all costs.
Keep it classy, Abbs. Always.
Reluctantly told by her mentor to do whatever she wants, Mackenzie prepares to dance to “Bully” up against Brynn and JoJo’s numbers.
She soon forgets her routine and breaks down. The pressure. “I just learned my dance within an hour,” Mack Z. cries to Holly Frazier.
“I’m too stressed right now!”
Yet despite being relatively green at hip-hop, Mackenzie wowed the judges at the competition and won first overall in the junior category!
Brynn and JoJo follow behind her in fourth and fifth place overall, respectively. Mack couldn’t help but bask in the glory a little bit, too:
“It feels great to win because Abby didn’t think I could win with a hip-hop solo," she says. "So, that’s her fault. I think I proved Abby wrong.”
Not that her efforts impressed Abby as much as she might like. Miller praised the group’s winning routine, but gave Mackenzie criticism:
“I wanted more technique in there and more gymnastic tricks than just body movement,” Abby says, refusing to give her an ounce of credit.
Says the younger Ziegler’s mother Melissa: “Mackenzie is the sweetest little kid. She’s a hard worker. She won and she’s so excited."
"I don’t know why Abby’s so hard on her, but I could really care less because I only have two weeks left and I’m going to make the best of it."
